Research Interest:

Viral infections in the human brain cause damage that results in cognitive and motor dysfunctions. Investigations focus on the molecular mechanisms of how viruses like HIV-1 and the polyomavirus JCV target neural-glial cells as well as brain derived stem cells. These studies  are directed toward uncovering pathways for therapeutic intervention either through new drug or cell based therapies
