Instructions to Author
Articles related to clinical and basic neurosciences can be sent for publication to "Dr. Akshay Anand (PhD),
Editor, Annals of Neurosciences,
Neuroscience Research Laboratory,

Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research,
Chandigarh, India" .
General Information
- Send all articles in triplicate (with a floppy 3½"/CD-ROM wherever possible) by registered post / courier.
- All articles must be accompanied by a covering letter signed by all authors confirming that article has not been published or submitted else where, either in part or in total. This restriction does not apply to abstracts published in connection with scientific meetings.
- The editorial board may modify the articles partially or wholly to bring it to set pattern of the journal to ensure continuity in style.
- The view expressed in article will remain the opinion of authors and editorial board accepts no responsibility for these.
- The papers, which have been published, become the property of the journal and should not be published or reproduced in full or in part elsewhere without the permission of the Editor.
Original Articles
- Typed double space on A/4 size bond paper with a 3 cm margin all around. Type on one side of paper only.
- Article should not exceed 10-12 type written pages including references but excluding tables.

- Material & Methods

- Legends of figure
Titles and Author's Name
- On a separate page.
- Concise & descriptive title.
- Authors name be given as initials followed by surname.
- The academic degree & designations with name of institution is given at bottom of page after superscribing individual authors names with asterisks.
- Give address for communication at bottom of pages with telephone numbers
Abstract
- This should be given on a separate page.
- This should not exceed 250 words for original article and 100 for case reports.
- It should include background, aims of study, methodology, results and conclusion. The problem being addressed in the study and conclusion of its result must be expressed clearly in the abstract.
Key Words
- These are required for indexing of article in the journal.
- The key words should not include words in title as title is automatically indexed.
- The key words may be taken from Medical Subjects Heading (Me SH) published under these headings.
- Discussion should avoid repetitions of results or review of literature.
- Text should not contain data given in tables.
- Abbreviations must be avoided in title, subtitle and summary.
- Only Generic name of drugs should be used Brand names may be used in material & method section only when these have been used in research.
- A written statement from the author and the publisher must accompany materials taken from other sources.
Statistical Methods
- Describe methods used in details.
- Present the results in logical sequence in text, tables or illustrations.
- In discussion emphasize newer aspect of study and the conclusions that follow from them.
Tables
- Type each table in double space on a separate page.
- Provide a title for each table and indicate its position in the text.
- Number the table in Arabic numerals.
- Put explanatory note in the footnote (and not in heading).
- Do not use internal horizontal and vertical rules.
- Number of table should be in proportion to length of the text.
Illustrations
- As far as possible the figures should be professionally designed, on glossy paper & large enough to be legible even after reduction to fit the width of a single column.
- The back of each figure should have name of author, sequence number and proper orientation (e.g. "top").
- Figure should be unmounted.
- Photographs and illustrations should be 7 x 7 cm or 14 cm.
- Electron micrographs should have internal scale markers.
- Patient photographs should be accompanied by permission or subject should not be identifiable.
- Legends for illustrations should be triple spaced on a separate paper.
- Colour prints are encouraged. Send both transparencies and prints for the purpose.
References
- Vancouver system of references should be used.
- References in text should be given as number within brackets (rather tan superior figures).
- No. of references should not exceed 30 for original articles, 10 for short article, 8 for case for a letter to editor.
- References should be numbered in order of their appearance in the text.
- Personal communications are to be identified in the text and not in the reference.
- Cross-references ("Quoted by - ") should be avoided.
- As far as possible, Indian references must be quoted.
- Name of all authors should be mentioned upto four, If more than four, first three names are mentioned followed by 'et al'.

From a Book

Correspondence
Letter to editors may comment on articles published in journal or may provide additional original data or information. The text should not exceed 500 words and a maximum of 3 references are permitted. The letter must be received within six weeks of article's publication.
Review and Actions
The editorial board examines the manuscripts and sends them to reviewers. The article not accepted would be informed within six weeks usually but decision on potentially acceptable articles may take longer.
Subscription Information
Annual subscription rates are Rupees Four Hundred in India / Forty Dollars or Twenty-Five Pounds abroad. The subscription should be sent to "Dr. Akshay Anand (PhD), Editor, Annals of Neurosciences, Neuroscience Research Laboratory, Department of Neurology, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India". The claim for issues not received, should be sent within 3 months of publication of the issue concerned. Later claims will not be entertained.
